ODIO YOUTH VISITS EKET PDP CHAIRMANSHIP CANDIDATE
...pledges unflinching support to the incoming administration
The youth of Odio community in Ward 7 Central, Eket Local Government Area under the auspices of Odio Youth Council today visited the Eket PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Akaninyene Tommey at his residence to show solidarity for his candidature ahead of the coming local government election in the state.

They also canvassed for inclusive administration where the issues bordering on the collective interest of Odio community are protected.
In his speech, the Patron of Odio Youth Council, Mr. David Fan thanked the PDP hopeful for creating time out of his busy schedule to interact with the youth, noting that God has chosen him at this time to lead Eket local government area.

Fan listed some of the challenges confronting Odio community to include inaccessible road, lack of electricity, unemployment, and other basic amenities, urging the incoming Chairman of Eket local government to please see how some of the most pressing issues like inaccessible road can be addressed to leverage on their challenges.
He added that Odio sons and daughters should also be considered in very sensitive committees as to give the people a sense of belonging as equal partner in Eket local government area.
The President, Odio Youth Council, Comrade Eno Sunday complained that Odio being the only village in Eket LGA that is bounded by three local government have security challenges, pleading with the incoming Chairman to come to their aid.
Speaking on behalf of the female, Miss Evelyn Simeon thanked Hon. Akaninyene Tommey for opening his door to receive the youth of Odio, praying God to give him the grace to Eket to an enviable height.
Responding, the Eket PDP flag bearer, Hon. Akaninyene Tommey applauded the youth of Odio community for the solidarity shown on him, assuring that he will not disappoint them as his administration will be all inclusive.
Hon. Tommey who is presently the Majority Leader/Councillor representing Ward 2 Central in Eket Legislative Council, said he will do everything within his power to relate with the State Government to ensure that the issue of inaccessible road to Odio is addressed once and for all. He further stated that government cannot do everything especially at the local government level, but promised that he will run an open policy administration that every community in Eket will be carried along.
He specifically mentioned the issue of employment quota, saying every community will have a stake but frowned at those who have been given opportunities that refused to go back to their people. He stressed that when something is given to a particular person, by mere showing appreciation will encourage the person to do more.
On the issue of insecurity, he pledged to work with the Youth President to ensure that the issue is properly addressed.
Earlier, the Director General of Hope Alive Campaign Organization, Chief Akwaekong Idim said this is the first time Odio youth have come to join hands with the incoming administration, saying that was not the case in the past. He said Hon. Tommey is a good brand that is appreciated by Eket people and he will accommodate the interest of Odio Youth and the larger community at large.
He thanked them for their solidarity and called on them to come out enmasse on Tuesday to receive the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as he arrives Eket for the PDP Campaign ahead of the local government election.
A member of Akwa Ibom Youth Caucus, Comrade Ubong Creativity said the visit is a follow-up to previous engagement with the PDP Chairmanship Candidate after the first encounter with the youth of Odio during consultation before the party primaries. He assured him of their unflinching support to his incoming administration and even beyond as the name Akaninyene Tommey is a brand that every reasonable person should identify with.
Item materials was presented to the Chairmanship hopeful to aid in the Ward to Ward campaign which will commence next week.
