EPHRAIM INYANGEYEN CHAIRS AKSG COMMITTEE TO ENROL CITIZENS, RESIDENTS IN NATIONAL IDENTITY DATABASE

  The Akwa Ibom State Government has inaugurated a nine-member committee to oversee the proposed enrolment of its citizens and residents into the National Identity Database. Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen Inaugurating the Committee at Government House, Uyo, on Friday, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, said the committee was to enable indigenes and those residing in the state to get registered under the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).   Dr Ekuwem charged members of the committee,whom he described as round peg in a round hole to work in collaboration with the NIMC to deliver on their assigned responsibility in order to accomplish government's objectives of the committee, bearing in mind the importance of the National Identity Card.   "The work of this committee is indispensable to the socio-economic growth and development of Akwa Ibom State. It is 66 days since we recorded the first set of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Akwa Ibom State. Over this period, we have deployed all reasonable resources; financial and material, within our disposal to contain the surge of COVID-19 in our state. We have also navigated the learning curve acquiring valuable lessons in the process. CASE MANAGEMENT Our incidence curve witnessed a spike since the last update, but we are happy to report that no life has been lost since then while we have continued to treat and discharge cases.
