Group celebrates Akpabio at 59
The Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs,
Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio has been celebrated by a socio-political
group in Akwa Ibom State. The group, Akwa Ibom Youth Coalition (AYC), led by Mr.
Akaniyene Umoh, embarked on series of activities to mark the 59th birthday
celebration of the former governor of Akwa Ibom State.

At the Ikot Ekpene
Township Stadium, the group played a novelty football match with Semek All Stars
FC. The kick-off was done by a renowned cleric in Akwa Ibom State, Rt. Rev.
Monsignor Peter A. Inyangetor The match, watched by many friends and political
associates of the former senate minority leader, ended 2 :1 in favour of Akwa
Ibom Youth Coalition ( AYC) FC.
On the significance of the novelty football
match, the group coordinator, Akaniyene Umoh, said, Akwa Ibom youths decided to
honour Senator Akpabio because of his love and passion for youths development.
"He affected lives of the youths in the state. Akwa Ibom youths owe him
loyalty".
"The novelty football match is one of the ways for the youths in the
state to further showcase our love for the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs
ministry, who has done well for the state, Niger Delta region and the country".
Barr. Mfonobong Urom, Etim Ekpo LGA contact person of the group told our
reporter that Senator Godswill Akpabio built the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.
"We are happy that God has kept him alive to witness the benefit of what he did
to Akwa Ibom State many years ago. He built this stadium".
Also speaking, Rt.
Rev. Monsignor Peter Inyangetor described Senator Akpabio as a lover of his
people. "He is a great man. He love and developed his people. Transformed the
state as a governor and changed the house help mentality of the people in the
state.
"Senator Akpabio empowered many youths. He introduced free and compulsory
education in the state. The gesture liberated minds of Akwa Ibom people.
"He
left good legacies and donated to many, including churches without considering
denomination". He commended the leadership of the group for organizing the
novelty football match. The cleric, prayed God to strengthen the minister to
serve and change the narratives of Nigeria and Nigerians.
Trophies were
presented to the winner, runner-up and the best player. Earlier, the group,
embarked on cleaning exercise at St Anne Cathedral, Ifuho, Ikot Ekpene LGA as
part of their activities to mark the 59th birthday of Senator Godswill Akpabio.
