Social Life Returns To Eket As Christmas Village Opens

 By Admin

Barely six days after the official opening of Eket Christmas Village, Eket Local Government Area has experienced an influx of people from all walks of life, who thronged into the city to witness what could be described as Eket Wonder Land.

Hon. Akaniyene Tommey, Chairman Eket Local Government Area

It would be an understatement to say that all economic activities in Eket, one of the oldest towns in Nigeria, have been relocated to the Stadium Pavilion, venue of the Eket Christmas Village, as customers are enjoy quality services while people are fully entertained with music, dance and comedy.

The mammoth crowd that visited the place on a daily basis is intimidating and a justification that the idea to have a Christmas Village in Eket was well thought-out and strategic, aimed at boosting the economic growth of Eket local government area, creating jobs and ending capital flight.

Initially, like every other viable idea and initiative, many doubted the possibility for people to leave the comfort of their homes, good business environment, exquisite restaurant, good hotel facilities, etc, to patronise businesses at an open arena, but their doubt were cleared as businesses at Eket Christmas Village have recorded more patronages than business premises.

At the official opening, according to sources, only 50 kiosks were erected and all occupied. But, as of the evening, additional 30 kiosks have been constructed, while more vendors are still jostling for the opportunity to have a kiosk, a testimony that business is booming with a huge return on investment.

Other things, observed at the Eket Christmas Village is the serenity of the place, the peaceful environment, coordination of vehicular activities, well positioned security personnel, effective technical team, star studded performance by artistes, etc, a commendation that the Committee is living up to expectations.

It can be authoritatively submitted that life has returned to Eket, and the Chairman, Akan Tommey deserves commendation for bringing back the entertainment spirit and social life of an average Eket person, after the extinction of Bubbles NightClub, Harry Lounge, Big Stuff, Mobil Pegasus, Cinderella, Assurance Hotel, among others. Let's sustain the tempo for optimum productivity.
