EKET CHAIRMAN COMMENDS NGO FOR DONATING WATER PROJECT TO GOVT SCHOOL IKOT UDOTA

The Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Akaniyene Tommey, yesterday, Friday 18th December 2020 commended Queen Mercy Atang Foundation for drilling and handing over a portable water project facility to Government Primary School, Ikot Udota Eket.

The Chairman made this commendation while commissioning a water project facility donated by Eket born and one time International Beauty Pageant,  Queen-Mercy Atang.

He said that the distribution of potable water across Eket Local Government Area is among the topmost priorities of his agenda to Make Eket Great Again. He assured the people that his administration would continue to partner with Individuals/Corporate Organization for the development of the area.

The Chairman added that his administration delights in prioritizing the welfare of the people, hence, the massive infrastructural development plan for the 14 wards in Eket Local Government Area.

Queen Mercy Atang, the CEO of the Foundation while speaking, said that they are focus on charity and politics The major aim of the Foundation is to put smiles on the faces of the children and less privilege  Nigerians.

" In Nigeria today, we have lot of kids roaming around the streets, no shelter, no good education, no food etc. That's why we are also structured to help take the children off the streets. Give them quality education, because they are the future leaders of our great Nation"

She added that the foundation is a non governmental, non partisan, non profit making organization registered under the Corporate Affairs Commision.

She thank Rt. Hon. Akaniyene Tommey for all the development programs/projects achieved for Ward 2 Central while serving as a Councillor. She also thank Govenror Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State for his hardwork, commitment and determination to serve his people, noting that, she has been hearing and reading about the Chairman and Governor in the media both home and abroad while urging Akwa Ibom people to rally round the govenror to serve them better as well as the full implementation of the completion agenda.

It could be recall that during the Covid-19 lockdown earlier this year, the foundation went about doing good, by way of donating and distributing food items, hand sanitizers and nose covers to some villages in Eket, Abak and other LGAs in Akwa Ibom State.

Goodwill massages were delivered by Elder Nse Atang, the Political Leader of Ward 2 Central, Eket, Rt. Hon Joshua Ekpe, the immediate past Vice Chairman of Eket LGA, Mr Ben, the CEO of Sadafy Night Club, Eket,  the Village Council and the school authority.
