AKPABIO, NDDC IMC... AND THE FORENSIC AUDIT.

By Patryk Edeke

Those who are conversant with the enigmatic leadership style of Sen Akpabio will always be left aloof to some of his distinct leadership decisions. Make no mistake, most times it always turns out right for the people. From his days as the Senior Prefect at Federal Government College, Port Harcourt to being a Commissioner and later Executive Governor of A'Ibom State. His reign as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and minority leader was greeted with people oriented projects scattered across the A'Ibom State and Niger-Delta as a region.
Sen. Godswill Akpabio and Dr. Joy Nunieh

It therefore goes to say that, Sen Akpabio is vested with the capabilities of handling and effectively executing whatever responsibility that is handed over to him irrespective of whose ox is gored. The testimonies of his live changing projects are there for everyone in A'Ibom State to behold. The roads he constructed over 11(eleven) years ago are still there without a single pothole. Whether nature or nurture, Sen Akpabio is no doubt given to excellence.

For me it was not rocket science when President Buhari handed over the supervisory role of checkmating the excesses that have plagued NDDC over the years to him, who else had the balls to take on NDDC demons headlong? Your guess is as good as mine. Bottom line, Sen Akpabio wants the NDDC cleaned up.

The Interim Management Committee IMC was set up primarily to achieve that and the forensic audit commenced or was to commence or touted to have commenced (Madam Joi Nunieh). Irrespective of any divide you fall into, the underlying reality is that, forensic audit was ordered by the President. Niger-Deltans were particularly exhilarated at this point, having endured untold underarm practices in the NDDC over the years. I was skeptical because instinct made it crystal to me that an ominous dark clouds was already gathering and the monsoon rains will be a child's play compared to the rains of revelation that will pour down during this forensic audit.

The allegations and counter allegations started flying in from all nooks and crannies, pandemonium threatened to rock the process, the hullabaloo was greeted with somewhat nauseating kerfuffle. Bottom line, it made for super agonising entertainment. The revelations were sweet sorrow for Niger-Deltans who had no option but to ensure this administrative calamity.

I watched in awesome agony as Dr Cairo, Executive Director Projects NDDC IMC, was taken to the cleaners by the ebullient Mr Kolawole Johnson of ACT. Mr Johnson made mince meat of Dr Cairo like a piranha doing justice to it's prey. The pristine nature with which Mr Johnson presented his point left me wondering if he has a degree in NDDC matters. I was flummoxed with disbelief that such humongous irregularities could be happening under the supervision of Sen Akpabio. Dr Cairo was left dazed reminiscent to Deontay Wilder being left in no man's land after Tyson Fury had done numerous numbers on him. Steve Umondak

Every rational individual is now aware that the IMC is stuck in muddy waters and the forensic audit guys aren't doing a good job. I know for sure that, Sen Akpabio is a man given to breaking jinx(es) and creating new records, on this note, I will suggest that:

1. The supervision of the auditing (Forensic or Statutory) be handed over to Mr Kolawole Johnson and his gang.
2. Dr Cairo and his gang should be excused out of office so as to enable a thorough clean-up of the system.

A stitch in time save nine. Syntax amardas can correct what they like. I don talk my own. Make I find small noddles cook for my pikin.
