I WANT TO CHANGE THE LEADERSHIP NARRATIVE IN EKET - INIOBONG IDEM

A prominent businessman and aspirant in the race for the chairmanship position in Eket local government area at the coming local government elections in the state, Mr. Iniobong Idem has assured that if elected as Chairman, he will change the leadership narrative of the local government with many lofty programmes that will impact positively on the lives of the citizenry. He gave the assurance today during a media parley with pressmen at his office in Eket.

Idem said he is not seeking political office for financial gains but to use it and render more quality services to the people.

“I am coming out not because of money but to change the leadership narrative of Eket local government area. I don’t take politics as a career, I only come in because of the exigency of time,” he emphasized.

Mr. Idem who is a geologist by profession but philanthropist by calling, disclosed that he has partnered with Idem Foundation to trained many youths in oil and gas related skills while also giving scholarship and grants to many, noting that if given the opportunity, he will do more.
“We have been training people in scaffolding, 16 people were given scholarship, we have given grants of N50,000 each to 50 women, we have given palliatives to our people during the Covid-19 pandemic to ameliorate their sufferings, we have trained people without collecting a dime and also certified them for free. All these I did as a private citizen and will do more as a chairman,” he submitted.
He acknowledged the achievements of the outgoing chairman, Hon. Frank Archibong especially in the area of human development, saying that he has touched many lives positively. He reiterated his commitment to consolidate on Archibong’s performances and also improved on other areas which were left untouched.
“Frank did well in human development and has affected many lives positively. I can assure you that if given the opportunity, I will do more because our leadership styles are different,” he added.
A confident Idem further stated that he is capable, competent and more qualified to be the next Chairman of Eket local government considering his wealth of experience to manage effectively both human and material resources, calling on the media to partner with him to achieve success.
