'MKPÓ AMAA CHANGE' INITIATIVE FOR UNVEILING, JUNE 29, 2020
Baring any last minute alteration, all is set for the Official Unveiling of a new attitudinal, moral and mental repositioning dogma, 'Mkpó Amaa Change', by the Akwa Ibom Social Reorientation Desk.
A statement by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Reorientation, Mr Ekpeno Gold, said the official unveiling of the 'Mkpó Amaa Change (Things Have Changed) brand, shall be performed by the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, alongside the Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr Akan Okon.
He said the brief event is slated for Monday, June 29, 2020 at the
Liaison Office of the Akwa Ibom Social Reorientation Desk, 56 Enwe
Street (Testimony House), Uyo by 9am.
Gold explained that the brand is inspired by the Dakkada Philosophy of Governor Udom Emmanuel and will be used to showcase the achievements of the current administration in various sectors.
"If you compare the Akwa Ibom of six years ago and Akwa Ibom of today, you'd definitely agree that things have changed, positively. From infrastructural renaissance, to the aviation sector, to agricultural, education, sports and health sectors, the truth is that things have changed", he said.
On other tenets of the new dogma, Gold explained that since Covid-19 has greatly affected world economies, it was therefore necessary for people to change their mentality, so as to fit into the new world order.
He said 'Mkpó Amaa Change' is also aimed at awakening the consciousness of Akwa Ibom people, especially the youths, on the need to acquire relevant skills for self-development, while remaining socially responsible.
The Governor's Aide pointed out that campaigns against rape, defilement, child abuse, vandalism, drug abuse, and cultism, championed by the Akwa Ibom Social Reorientation Desk, will now be done through the new credo, 'Mkpó Amaa Change'.
The statement invites all volunteers of the Social Values Campaign and interested members of the public to the event.
