Obaseki joins PDP, vows to destroy, bury APC in Edo

Mr. Godwin Ovaseki, the Edo State governor has joined the main opposition party, the People Democratic Party (PDP)  while vowing to destroy and bury APC in Edo.

Obaseki, who dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for PDP, took his aides and supporters along with him.

Obaseki announced his move to PDP on Friday afternoon when he led some of his appointees and supporters to the party secretariat in Benin-City, the Edo state capital.

Obaseki had on Wednesday consulted with the leadership of the PDP before his move on Friday.

Obaseki the incumbent Governor was prevented from running under the APC for the Edo state governorship election when he was disqualified by the APC screening committee for the party primaries election.

The committee supervised by Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, the suspended National Chairman of APC disqualified Obaseki over an allegation of certificate forgery.

This is even as  Oshiomhole suspension has since been upheld by the Court of Appeal, bringing his membership of the party to an end.
