Odio Youth Resolves to Pursue Community Interest


The youth of Odio resident in Eket local government area have resolved to put aside sentiments but join hands to pursue collective interest for the overall wellbeing of the community.
They took this decision during a meeting held today at True Value Hotel in Eket.

The Convener of the meeting, Kufre Edwards in his opening remarks said that Odio youth must come together under one platform to pursue a collective interest and by so doing bring development to the community.

He emphasized that when the youth of Odio are not united, there is a tendency that some people with evil intention will exploit on their shortcomings to bring disunity in the community.
"When we are not united, it is very possible for somebody to come and scatter us. But when we are united and come together, we can fight for our collective interest."

"We are not coming together to insult or abuse our leaders but to pursue our collective interest. Let's have the interest of Odio at heart," he emphasized.
Samuel Udo Inyang and Ini Udo Johnny in their contributions noted that until Odio youth jettison sentiments, the call for unity will be an effort in futility.

Benjamin Samuel Inyang said he support the call for Odio youth to come together but warned that we must unite first to achieve our goals by demanding for what is our right.

Other speakers seek for unity of purpose as anything on the contrary will be counterproductive.
On the issue of bad road which top discussion at the meeting, the youth of Odio said that information at their disposal is that money have been released tó VKS to go back to site by second week of July and they will exercise patience to see the next line of action before they take the next action.
On employment issue, they resolved to meet with the Chairman of Eket, Hon. Frank Archibong and key stakeholders to discuss the way forward.

They resolved to meet frequently to chat the way forward for Odio youth both in Eket and the Diaspora.

The meeting was attended by President, Odio Youth Council, Comrade Eno Sunday Nyoh, the Secretary, Pastor Nsikan Nnah Sunday, former Youth President, Comrade Ini Udo Johnny, among others.
