SEN. AKON EYAKENYI FROWNS AT INCESSANT RAPE CASES IN THE COUNTRY.


Senator Akon Eyakenyi PhD, representing the good people of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, on Monday 2nd June, 2020 at the senate plenary added her voice on the call for more stiffer punishment against those found wanting for rape cases in the country.

The Senator made her contribution in support of a motion brought on the floor of the senate by the senator representing Cross River Central, Prof. Sandy Onoh. Senator who is a Professor of History condemned in very strong terms, the inhuman attitude of some adult males who indulge in rape of all sort drawing the attention of the Red Chamber to the dastardly act recently reported in Benin city, where a first year student of Microbiology from University of Benin (UNIBEN) was raped by unknown men in the Church which led to her death.

Senator Eyakenyi described the incident as ugly and very unfortunate. In unanimity with her Distinguished colleagues, she called for wealthier punishment against perpetrators.
